In response to the challenges faced by many families and individuals in 2024, Blue Haven Foundation (BHF) took action to make a meaningful impact. In 2024, we awarded a micro grant of nearly $2,000 to the Inglewood Zetas, who partnered with The Midnight Mission's HomeLight Family Living program to adopt a family of four and provide critical support during the holiday season. Through this collaboration, BHF helped offer stability, resources, and a sense of community to families transitioning out of homelessness and into permanent housing.
One such family was the Sanchez family. The mother, recently laid off, struggled to provide for her children during the holidays. Her eldest daughter, a business major at Arizona State University (ASU), and her younger son, who aspired to join his junior high school’s volleyball team, faced uncertainty. Thanks to the program’s support, their holiday season was brightened. Today, we are proud to share that the eldest Sanchez daughter is thriving in her studies at Santa Monica College.
Founded in 1914, The Midnight Mission provides vital resources to individuals in need, offering emergency services, 12-step recovery programs, family living support, job training, education, and workforce development initiatives. Their mission is to remove obstacles, promote self-sufficiency, and empower individuals experiencing homelessness to rebuild their lives.
Through our ongoing partnership with the Inglewood Zetas, we also witnessed the remarkable journey of the Rowland family. In 2023, the mother successfully reunited with her 3-year-old son, who had been in foster care when she entered The Midnight Mission’s program. She secured stable employment and transitioned out of the program, emerging stronger emotionally, spiritually, and financially.
Additionally, in 2022, another woman adopted through the holiday initiative has since overcome homelessness and continues to thrive in her endeavors.
At BHF, we recognize that while we may not change the world alone, we create a lasting impact by working alongside dedicated community partners on the front lines. As we continue expanding our proprietary programs, we remain committed to fostering hope, resilience, and opportunity for those in need.
